Srinagar: At least 11 people were killed and nearly 200 others were injured in clashes in Kashmir. The death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani triggered violence in the various parts of the city on Saturday. On receiving credible information, a search operation was launched and the most wanted terrorist Wani was killed in the encounter.

The killing of Wani sparked violence in several places of the State and more than 90 policemen were injured in the clashes. Central forces have been sent to the Kashmir. Curfew was also imposed in many parts of the state.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said, “I express profound grief over the tragic death of the youths and extend my heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family members.”

Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Deeply anguished at the loss of precious lives, pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
