Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, is scheduled to visit Assam on the 26th of December.

According to sources, Mr. Shah’s visit to the State is significant as Assembly elections are due in 2021 in Assam.

During the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader’s visit, several leaders of the opposition parties are likely to join the BJP.

A BJP leader who wished to be anonymous said, “During the Home Minister’s visit, several leaders of various opposition parties would join the BJP. (Mr.) Shah would discuss important issues related to the elections with the state party leaders, including Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.”

Assam  visit of Amit Shah came days after he visited poll bound West Bengal.

The Party is confident to win the Assam Assembly elections.

Baijayant Jay Panda, the National Vice President of the BJP and BJP in charge in Assam said, the Saffron Party would secure nearly 100 seats of the total 126 seats in Assam.

Mr. Panda said, “The BJP along with its allies would retain power in Assam and would secure at least 100 seats in next year’s Assembly elections.”  He further added, “Amit Shah will be visiting Assam very soon final programmes are being prepared. As state in-charge, I will be going to Assam on December 23 and will look after preparation for Amit Shah’s visit. On December 25, we will celebrate ‘Good Governance Day’ in Assam.  On the occasion, a large statue of Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be unveiled in Assam. (Sic.)”

The reason behind such confidence in the BJP is due to the recent results of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC)  elections in Assam.

The BJP swept last week’s polls to the 36-member TAC by winning 33 seats while in the elections to the 40 member BTC, BJP formed the council in alliance with two other new allies, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and the Gana Suraksha Parishad (GSP.)

Showing active participation for the upcoming Assembly polls in Assam and West Bengal.

Union BJP leaders like J.P. Nadda, the National President of the BJP and Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister is likely to visit Assam and West Bengal often until elections end.

The Assembly elections in Assam and West Bengal are due in April-May 2021.
