At the BIMSTEC Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched for enhanced regional connectivity in a peaceful and safe environment with the members of the states present at the meet. PM Modi is in Kathmandu, Nepal for the 4th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation(BIMSTEC) Summit.

BIMSTEC has become a meeting point for India’s Neighborhood First and Act East policies. Mr. Modi further added the Bay of Bengal holds a special importance in terms of security and development issues of all the regions.

During the Summit, PM Modi proposed to host a conference under the BIMSTEC framework on topics related to narcosis. The theme of the Summit is towards a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable Bay of Bengal region.

PM Modi at the summit shared his strong views over the opportunity of trade, economic, transport, digital and people to people connectivity. Apart from the Summit, Mr. Modi organized a meeting with the Prime Minister of Thailand. The two leaders discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between India and Thailand. He also had a meeting with Myanmar’s President Win Myint during the Summit.
