Arun Jaitley, the former Finance Minister of India, is still said to be in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS,) Delhi.

On the 17th of August, Jaitley’s condition deteriorated and he was put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO.)  The situation is no better and he is still on life support.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India and other Cabinet ministers visited Arun Jaitley several times since he was admitted to the AIIMS.

Recently, Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, also visited Arun Jaitley.  Mr. Jaitley was admitted on the 9th of August, after he complained of respiratory problems and weakness.  He is under the supervision of multidisciplinary doctors at the AIIMS.

On the 18th of August, BJP leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Jitendra Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore visited the AIIMS to enquire about Arun Jaitley’s health.

Apart from BJP leaders, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) was also at the AIIMS to meet Jaitley.

The situation is still critical and Arun Jaitley’s treatment for the same is underway.
