After announcing the revocation of Article 370, the Government of India (GoI,) on the 5th of August, deployed approximately 8,000 paramilitary troops in the Kashmir Valley.

The troops were airlifted by C 17 Aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) from Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and other parts of the Country.

Recently, the GoI deployed a total of 28,000 troops in the Kashmir Valley.  As of now, there are a total of 46,000 troops in the Kashmir Valley for security.

After Article 370 was scrapped, the situation may worsen in Jammu and Kashmir.  The Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force are also on high alert.

Internet services, cable TV services and other network services were shut down in the State.  Apart from this, prominent political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir are also under house arrest.

Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor (NSA,) is monitoring the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official of the Indian Army said, “Riot control vehicles have also been kept on standby in some areas where the apprehension of law and order disturbances is more.”

The Indian Army arranged tight security in sensitive areas of the Kashmir Valley, along the Line of Control (LoC.)
