Amid the ongoing protests against the “Agnipath” Army recruitment scheme, Mr. Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Groups announced to recruit Agniveers.

On the 20th of June, Business tycoon, Mr. Anand Mahindra took to Twitter and said, “Saddened by the violence around the Agneepath program.  When the scheme was mooted last year I stated-& I repeat-the discipline & skills Agniveers gain will make them eminently employable.  The Mahindra Group welcomes the opportunity to recruit such trained, capable young people.”

In another tweet, Mr. Anand Mahindra said, “Large potential for employment of Agniveers in the corporate sector.  With leadership, teamwork & physical training, magnifiers provide market-ready professional solutions to industry, covering the full spectrum from operations to administration & supply chain management (sic.)”

Meanwhile, the Central Government launched the Agnipath scheme and erupted violent protests across India, demanding the withdrawal of the Army recruitment scheme, which allows services for only four years.  In many parts of India, trains were burnt and people were killed during the protests.  Furthermore, on the 20th of June, the students and Army aspirants across India called for a nationwide “Bandh” (strike.)
