Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India, on the 5th of August, will introduce Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019 and speak about it in Rajya Sabha.

The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019, was tabled and passed in Lok Sabha on the 1st of July.  If approved by the Rajya Sabha, the Bill will provide reservation to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the society in Jammu and Kashmir.

The State Government will provide 10 % reservation to EWS in educational institutions and government jobs.  The new reservation Bill will not scrap the existing reservation in the State.

Apart from introducing the Bill, Amit Shah will also speak about the decisions taken during the Cabinet meeting, organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

The BJP urgently called a Cabinet meeting on the 5th of August, which started around 9:30 A.M., at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After the 1 hour meeting, the Cabinet ministers headed to the Rajya Sabha session, where Shah informed the members about the crucial points discussed during the Cabinet meeting.

The Rajya Sabha Parliament session began at 11:00 A.M.
