The Delhi Police arrested six people for their alleged involvement in the smuggling of arms and ammunition in the national capital ahead of Independence Day.

On August 12, the police recovered ammunition, including 2,000 live cartridges from their possession. The police further said that the accused were arrested from Delhi’s Anand Vihar area with two bags of cartridges. A case has been registered in this regard and an investigation is underway.

Meanwhile in West Bengal, ahead of the 75th Independence Day, after Delhi, a suspicious drone flying over Kolkata’s Victoria Memorial was spotted, on August 12.

Notably, two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested for allegedly flying a drone over Victoria Memorial. The CISF officials stationed at the memorial noticed and reported to the police. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Shifat and Mohammed Zillur Rahman, both residents of Rajshahi district, Bangladesh.
