On the 17th of March, Pawan Gupta, one of the convicts in 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape case, filed a curative plea in the Supreme Court (SC.)

In his petition, Pawan Gupta moved the SC against the dismissal of his review petition in a Delhi Court.

According to Pawan Gupta, at the time of the crime in 2012, Pawan was a juvenile.  This is not the first time, Pawan Gupta filed the petition claiming himself to be minor in 2012.   Previously, Gupta filed a petition in a trial court, following which he moved the Delhi High Court.

Finally, Pawan Gupta filed a petition against the dismissal of his plea in the Supreme Court (SC.)  The SC, on the 31st of January 2020, dismissed his review plea against the rejection of his appeal in the Delhi High Court.

Justice R. Banumathi, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A.S. Bopanna  considered the petition and dismissed it on the 31st of January 2020.

A.P. Singh, advocate representing the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape case, argued the rejection of the plea stating the school leaving certificates of Pawan Gupta, proves he was minor when the crime took place.

The filing of the curative petition came at a time, when on the 20th of March, all the four convicts, Mukesh Singh, Akshay Singh, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma would be given the death sentence.

All the four convicts of the  December 2012 brutal gang rape of Nirbhaya, are scheduled to be hanged to death at 5:30 A.M., on the 20th of March.
