In view of the worst economic crisis in Sri Lanka, many Sri Lankan families are fleeing to India, taking shelter in refugee camps.

On the 22nd of April, Friday, 18 more Sri Lankan nationals arrived in India’s Dhanushkodi region in the State of Tamil Nadu.  The people landed in the wee hours being accommodated at the Mandapam refugees camp, organized by the Indian Government.

It is to be noted, that Sri Lanka is facing the worst economic crisis in its history, leaving people with no food and shelter, without any support from the Sri Lankan Government.

In the second batch of 18 people, there were children, women, and men who came to India by boat.

In Sri Lanka, the citizens are protesting and demanding the resignation of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the President of Sri Lanka, amid the worst economic crisis on the island.  The united population of 22 million in Sri Lanka, raised their voices, slogans, and placards and asked the government officials and the President to quit their posts, as they have damaged the nation.

Meanwhile, to control the situation and the economic crisis, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed a new governor to the Central Bank, Mr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, and is hopeful to overcome the crisis.

Meanwhile, half of the citizens are not likely to give up their protests until Mr. Gotabaya Rjapaksa resigns from his post and the other half escaped to different nations, including India for survival.
