Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge, a senior official of the Indian National Congress, would officially take over charges as the new President of the INC on the 26th of October, Wednesday.

Notably, Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge won the recently held Indian National Congress Presidential elections.  He has been elected as the first non Gandhi President in the past 20 years.

Ahead of his official takeover as the Congress president on Wednesday, Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge paid his tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Rajghat.  Later, he also visited the Samta Sthal and Shakti Sthal in New Delhi. 

According to sources, Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge is scheduled to take Presidential charges around 10:30 A.M. at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi.

The grand ceremony organised for the event would be attended by senior Congress leaders, Chief Ministers of INC led states and other officials.  Moreover, over 1,000 artists would perform at the ceremony. 

Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhatisgarh, who is also a member responsible for the arrangements of the event said, “About 1,400 Indian artists will perform and 100 from abroad.” 

The Indian National Congress officially tweeted about the event for the new president in a tweet.  The Twitter post read, “Function for the presentation of certificate of election to the newly elected Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge will be held on Wednesday the 26th October 2022 at 10.30 a.m. at AICC Headquarters, 24 Akbar Road, New Delhi. You are cordially invited to attend the function.”
