Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader, today, met K.T. Rama Rao (KTR,) the working president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) at Mr. Reddy’s house.

The reason behind the private meeting is unclear, but it is speculated, the YSRCP will form an alliance with the TRS for the ‘third party’ agenda proposed by K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister (CM) of Telangana.

Recently, KCR announced, he will contest the Lok Sabha elections and is trying to form a ‘third party’ with the motive of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress party free nation. Mr. Rao also conducted several meetings with Mamata Banerjee, the CM of West Bengal, and Naveen Patnaik, the CM of Odisha, toward the same.

The meeting between KTR and Jagan Mohan Reddy is also suspected to be a strategy against the Chandrababu Naidu led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh elections scheduled for 2019, along with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Reddy addressed media and described the meeting with KTR as ‘one step at a time.’ In addition, Mr. Reddy also said, KCR will personally meet Mr. Reddy in Andhra Pradesh to discuss the ‘third front.’

The Andhra Pradesh elections will be conducted for a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Legislative Assembly seats. The major parties contesting the elections are the Telugu Desam Party, the YSRCP and the JanaSena Party.
