In a relief to activist Sudha Bharadwaj, theSupreme Court (SC,) on the 7th of December, rejected the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) petition challenging Sudha Bharadwaj’s bail orders.
Recently, the NIA filed a petition demanding to cancel the default bail approval given to Bhima Koregaon main accused Ms. Sudha Bharadwaj. In 2018, activists Including P. Varavara Rao, a revolutionary writer from Hyderabad, Sudha Bharadwaj, Gautam Navlakha and others were arrested in the Bhima Koregaon Maoist plot against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Notably, on the 1st of December, the Bombay High Court (HC) granted a default bail to the Elgar Parishad Bhima Koregaon case accused. The NIA, disagreeing with this, challenged Bombay HC’s orders in the Top Court.
Meanwhile, on the 8th of December, Ms. Sudha Bharadwaj is scheduled to appear before the NIA to decide on bail conditions and release. However, the NIA before the Scheduled hearing, filed a petition, challenging her release.
Before the bail approval, Activist Bharadwaj was lodged in Byculla Women’s Prison in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
