In order to crackdown drug peddlers in India. the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with the Narcotics Central Bureau (NCB) and respective state police conducted an operation.

Carried out earlier this week, the ‘Operation Garuda,’ a massive countrywide crackdown on narcotics networks, lead to the arrest of 175 alleged drug peddlers, confirmed the concerned officials on the 29th of September, Thursday.  Moreover, as many as 127 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed by the agencies involved in ‘Operation Garuda’.

The operation launched as a massive countrywide plan was to “disrupt, degrade and dismantle” drug networks with international linkages, said the CBI in an official statement.

The global operation was planned through a “rapid exchange” of intelligence on narco-trafficking and coordinated actions with enforcement agencies across international jurisdictions through Interpol.

Major cities and states where the massive operation was carried out are Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other regions, where drug circulation is high.
