On the 10th of December, Friday, the nation is conducting the last rites of India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat.

Carried out with a huge procession, the funeral of General Bipin Rawat and his wife Ms. Madhulika Rawat, is being held at the Brar Square Crematorium in Delhi. 

A massive crowd gathered in the procession to pay tribute to the late General Bipin Rawat.  The last rites at the crematorium started at 4:00 P.M., and is underway.  Military forces from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and others attended the last rites of Indian Army Chief and CDS.  Condolences and grief poured in from across the globe mourning the loss of India. 

On the 8th of December, Wednesday, a helicopter with 14 people, including General Rawat, crashed causing injuries to three people.  The concerned authority launched a search operation to rescue others onboard.  Getting into the details, the CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife, defense assistant, security commandos and an IAF pilot were on board in the Mi-series chopper.  The helicopter crashed in between Coimbatore and Sulur in Tamil Nadu.  Of the people on board, only one IAF commander survived the crash and is being treated at a Bengaluru hospital. 

The IAF also launched a search operation and an initial investigation to find out the reason behind the crash.
