In Karnataka, a shocking incident of murder was reported on the 19th of February, Sunday.  

Hemanth Datta, a 20 year old resident of Hassan district, allegedly killed Hemanth Naik, 23 year old, delivery boy of an E-kart, over an iPhone.  The accused who has been arrested on the 19th of February, allegedly stabbed the victim to avoid payment of Rs. 46,000 for an iPhone.  Getting into the details, Hemanth Datta booked a second hand iPhone worth Rs. 46,000.  The delivery boy Hemanth went to deliver the iPhone near the Lakshmipura layout, on the 7th of February.  

The incident came to light after Naik’s family, on the 16th of February, filed a missing complaint against Hemanth Naik. The police launched an investigation and tracked Hemanth’s mobile number found near the residence of Datta, the accused.  When the police investigated the accused’s house, they found the mobile phone of the victim Hemanth Naik, his delivery articles and the ordered iPhone.   

After further investigation, Hemanth Datta said, he stabbed Naik to death when he demanded Rs. 46,000 for the delivered iPhone.  After committing the crime, he kept Naik’s body at his residence for the next four days.  When he found an opportunity on the 11th of February, the accused Hemanth Datta put the body in a gunny bad and burnt it near the railway bridge.

The Hassan Police has sent Hemanth Datta into judicial custody and filed a charge sheet against him.
