On the 20th of December, Tuesday, three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces.

The encounter broke out in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, after the security officials and police received inputs of militants hiding in the region.

On Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police Officials confirmed the encounter and said, “Among the three neutralised local terrorists, two identified as Lateef Lone of Shopian, involved in killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Purana Krishna Bhat; and Umer Nazir of Anantnag, involved in killing of Till Bahadur Thapa of Nepal.  One AK-47 rifle and two pistols recovered.”

Furthermore, Mr. Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General Police (DGP) of Kashmir zone said that the encounter broke out in the wee hours of Tuesday, after the police launched a joint operation to search for the presence of terrorists in  Munjh Marg area, Shopian.  The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched.

Meanwhile, the encounter is still underway and more details into the matter is awaited.
