On the 3rd of January, 2018 the Rajasthan Government alerted the State after over 400 people were tested positive for the swine flu (H1N1 influenza) virus. A meeting with senior officials, to raise awareness about the virus was also held on the 3rd of January. Earlier on the 20th of January, the Health Director of Rajasthan V. K. Singh Mathur in a statement said the Health Department is well equipped to control the situation if a need arises. He further added they were looking for ways to combat the virus and arrest further spreading.

More than 11,721 people were tested for swine flu between the 1st of January and 19th of December 2017. From the lot, around 3,214 people were tested positive for swine flu. So far in 2018, swine flu claimed the lives of around 88 people in Rajasthan. Further, 976 people were tested positive for swine flu.
