The Osmania University in Hyderabad has indefinitely postponed the Indian Science Congress (ISC.) The 105th ISC scheduled to happen from the 3rd to 7th of December was postponed due to security concerns from intelligence inputs.

The OU Registrar Gopal Reddy explained, “We haven’t canceled the event, we just deferred the dates. There’s going to be a meeting to be held in Kolkata by the Indian Science Congress Association on December 27. In that meeting, the fresh dates of the event will be decided.”

He further added, “I can’t disclose details of the reasons for the event being postponed, but we received intelligence reports, following which we had to postpone the event.”

The ISCA wrote in its website, “Vice Chancellor of Osmania University has informed that they are not in a position to host 105th Indian Science Congress scheduled from 3-7 January 2018 due to certain issues in the campus.”

OU has been witnessing a lot of violence ever since a first year student E. Murali committed suicide in the University Hostel.
