On Sunday, the residents of Vonitimitta, Kadapa district were in for a shock when they found 5 bodies floating in the lake. Today, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Adnan Nayeem Asmi said the men are believed to be from Salem in Tamil Nadu. The Men have been identified and the Andhra Pradesh (AP) police are in touch with their colleagues from Salem.

The deceased have been identified as Murugesan, Chinnappayi, Jayaraj, Murugesan and Kariappan. It is said five days ago they allegedly came to Kadapa from Salem in search of jobs. Adnan said, “At this point of time, it is difficult to tell. The reasons can be further established following the autopsy.”

The Resident Medical Officer Dr. L. Anand said, “All the bodies were in a highly decomposed state. Since the bodies were decomposed, it is hard to find the injuries. The report will come in 1 to 2 months.” Activists demanded the Tamil Nadu Government take the matter up in Court against the AP Government and police. The State Secretary of the Organisation of Democratic Rights K. Ramkumar questioned about the alleged woodcutters losing their lives. He further added this needs to be exposed.
