About 4,000 police personnel have been posted outside the Chennai stadium for the IPL match today. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association made this move due to the ongoing protests over the delay in forming the Cauvery Board. Today, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the evening.

Political parties and fringe groups in Tamil Nadu have asked to cancel or postpone the IPL matches till the Cauvery Board is formed. The parties have asked fans to boycott the match in view of the Government failing to form the Board.

They hope the empty galleries will send a message to the Center. The State Government claims the Center is defying the Supreme Court’s order by not forming the Board.

Many people plan to gather around the stadium and hold a protest with black flags. But the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association will ensure the match is not interrupted. The spectators will not be allowed to carry phones, cameras or banners inside the stadium.
