Hyderabad: On Saturday night, at least 7 construction workers were killed in a landslip at a construction site in the city of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. One labourer was rescued from the mishap.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a 30-feet deep cellar was being dug for a proposed multi-storey building at Lakshmipuram in Guntur and the workers were at the spot during the mishap. Police said that the victims were trapped inside and lost their lives.
After receiving information, MLAs Alapati Rajendra Prasad, N Anand Babu, district Collector Kantilal Dande, AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and others rushed to the accident site. It is heard that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked his deputy N China Rajappa to oversee the rescue operations.
