On Sunday, an event manager was arrested by the police for sending a bomb hoax letter to a star hotel in Chennai.
Varunkumar, a 30 year old man, visited the hotel with three of his friends for a party on Saturday. He sent the threat because he was not happy with the service at the hotel where he was staying, the police said.
The anonymous letter which was found in the lobby near the reception said: “Bombs have been planted on the fourth floor of the hotel and it would go off on Saturday noon.”
The letter created a flutter among the police personnel as the Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palanisamy was scheduled to attend a program on the fourth floor of the hotel.
Police said that they traced Varunkumar by verifying the CCTV footage from the hotel and found the man dropping the hoax letter near the reception.
Based on the complaint lodged by the hotel officials, the Teynampet Police Inspector, Giri registered a case against Varunkumar and arrested him .
