A 21 year old B tech student was detained at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, in Hyderabad, on Sunday for carrying a live bullet. The fourth year student identified as Vaibhav Kumar Sharma was travelling to Goa from Hyderabad. Sharma is originally from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh.

When the officials checked Sharma’s baggage they found a live round of ammunition of 7.65 mm caliber. Sharma was travelling with a friend and was in Hyderabad on a holiday. The two were to fly to Goa next, via Go Air.

Sharma was taken in for questioning where he claimed innocence and said he had no idea about the bullet in his bag. He did not declare the ammunition at the check in counter and failed to provide an arms and ammunition license.

Sharma did not have a valid license to justify the possession of a bullet, and  was arrested. Last year in October a passenger in Hyderabad was arrested for trying to carry six live bullets.
