The Income Tax department on Friday filed a case against the Punjab Congress Cheif Captain Amarinder Singh in regard to alleged untaxed foreign assets. But Capt. Amarinder Singh dismissed this prosecution complaint as a political vendetta by the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley. Amarinder Singh called it “mala fide and politically motivated,” he added: “the cowardly act is a move of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley out of sheer political vendetta, which would not stand in the court of law.”

The Captain also added, “Now that the matter is in court, the true colors and instructions of the political vendetta by Jaitley will be exposed.” He said that when summoned by the court, he would request the panel to call the Finance Minister and senior officials of Income Tax department and expose all those involved in this conspiracy against him. Mr. Singh said that he knew that there was a conspiracy being plotted against him and that he was waiting for the opportune moment to get all those that are involved on to the stand.

Arun Jaitley

Congress Chief Amarinder Singh says that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was behind Income Tax complaint filed against him.

In regard to the statement about political vendetta by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, he said that “this reaction, which had come in response to his challenge to fight the Amritsar Lok Sabha election, was predictable. In 2014 Lok Sabha election, Jaitley had lost by a huge margin while contesting from Amritsar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had first raised the topic of my foreign assets case during this election which did not help Jaitley and he faced a humiliating defeat.”

The congress chief also felt that the facts were completely made up and asked: “Why did the Income Tax department not file any complaint in the past two years instead of waiting for the elections.”

He also said that such vindictive moves would backfire on Jaitley and government at the Centre.
