Weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga bagged a gold medal for India at the Summer Youth Olympics 2018 on Monday night. He represented India in the men’s 62 kg category weightlifting competition at the event.

The event witnessed Jeremy lifting a weight of 274 kg in Argentina, the host for this year’s Summer Youth Olympics. Jeremy competed against Turkey’s Toptas Camer, who bagged a silver medal and Colombia’s Villar Estiven Jones, who settled for a bronze.

At the Asian Youth and Junior Championships this year, the young athlete bagged a silver medal (youth) and a bronze medal (junior,) surpassing the previous national records.

This year’s Summer Youth Olympics started well for India, as 4 medals were secured by Indian athletes. Tushar Mane and Mehuli Ghosh won a silver medal each in 10m rifle shooting, whereas Thangjam Tababi Devi secured the second position in judo (44 kg category,) getting India its first medal in the sport.
