Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the All India Congress Committee spokesperson, called K. Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) family ‘Thugs of Telangana,’ on Sunday, during a press conference at Gandhi Bhawan.

Addressing the people of Telangana, Mr. Singhvi said, “These thugs have created a graveyard of broken promises, a legacy of breach of trust, a betrayal of emotions and a denial of all expectations.” He further said, “More than Pradesh Moh (love for the state), KCR had practiced putra moh, putri moh and parivar moh (love for son, daughter and family.)”

Mr. Singhvi urged the people of Telangana to not vote for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). He also alleged KCR of destroying the four pillars of democracy, the legislature, the judiciary, the executive and the media.

Mr. Singhvi said, KCR failed to fulfil the promise he made to the citizens of Telangana, of working for the welfare of the State.

Speaking about the corruption in the State, Abhishek Singhvi said, under KCR’s rule, Telangana stands 2nd in the list of corruption. He gave examples of the commission taken by the ministers for Mission Bhagiratha, various irrigation projects and the schemes meant for the distribution of tractors and the disbursement of sheep and goat.

In addition, Mr. Singhvi talked about the open statement of a Municipal chairman, who said, the ministers told the contractors of various projects to pay 2 % commission to public representatives.

He added, 30,000 Government approvals were hidden by the Telangana Government and the Government also declined the Right to Information (RIA) applications of the citizens seeking information about GOS (Gross of Operational Surplus.)

The Congress started its campaign for the Telangana Assembly elections with its alliance parties, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS,) and the Communist Party of India (CPI.) The Telangana elections are scheduled on the 7th of December.
