The devastating effect of the Syria-Turkiye Earthquake, which occurred on the 6th of February continues. At least 15,383 people have died in the natural disaster and thousands are feared trapped in the debris, across the earthquake hit the region, confirmed the AFAD, Turkey’s disaster management agency.

Getting into the details, more than 62,914 more have been injured as a result of the earthquakes that shook the nation. In addition, as of right now, 2,992 people have died in Syria.

Furthermore, rescuers and volunteers are working round the clock to locate the trapped under rubble despite the cold weather, which is disturbing the rescue operations.  Survivors are also said to be in danger without food or water drops in the severely cold weather of Turkiye.  If experts are to be believed, the 72 hour window for rescuing those trapped by the earthquakes may be much smaller than anticipated, especially in the low temperatures that have swept through the earthquake hit regions.

As of now, search and rescue teams from more than 65 countries have arrived in the Turkish earthquake zones to offer assistance in quake relief efforts.

Rescue operations are still underway.
