The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay Graduate, Mr. Parag Agarwal is the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter.  On the 29th of November, Monday, Mr. Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, resigned from his post.

With this, an Indian origin person will lead the giant micro blogging social media platform Twitter.  An alumnus of IIT Bombay, Parag Agarwal was the Chief Technology Officer of Twitter, who now will take over as the CEO. 

The resignation of Mr. Jack Dorsey was confirmed by his Twitter post, where he wrote,  “I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders….The board ran a rigorous process considering all options and unanimously appointed Parag.  He’s been my choice for some time given how deeply he understands the company and its needs.”  It further read, “Parag has been behind every critical decision that helped turn this company around. He’s curious, probing, rational, creative, demanding, self-aware, and humble. He leads with heart and soul, and is someone I learn from daily.  My trust in him as our CEO is bone deep.”

Speaking about the new CEO of Twitter, Mr. Parag Agarwal, he started as an engineer at Twitter and now is set to channel the company as the CEO. 

In the past few years, many tech companies in the United States now have Indian origin CEOs like: Mr. Sundar Pichai (Google,) Mr. Arving Krishna (IBM,) Adobe Shantanu Narayen (Adobe System,) Mr. Satya Nadela of Microsoft and Indra Nooyi (Pepsico.)
