America’s top reality star Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in Paris by men dressed as police officers in her private apartment. A spokesperson for Kardashian West said the celebrity was “badly shaken but physically unharmed” following the incident, which took place early Monday morning local time.
The French Ministry said five men threatened the caretaker with a weapon, handcuffed him and forced him to open the private apartment. Two of the men were able to gain entry to her room, said the French officials. Kardashian West was locked in a bathroom while the men took two cell phones and jewelry worth millions of dollars, a ministry spokesperson said. The officials said that a ring, worth an estimated 4 million euros and a jewelry box worth an estimated 5 million euros. The culprits escaped on bicycles.
Kim was attending the Paris Fashion Week along with her mother, Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. The 35-year-old had also attended the Balenciaga show earlier on Sunday. The Kardashian’s were in Paris to support Kendall as she was modeling for the show.
The family has been quiet about the incident on their usually buzzing social networking sites. Kanye West, Kim’s husband, ended his performance at the Meadows music and Arts Festival at the Citi Field in New York on Sunday night, stating a family emergency.
Though Kim was silent about the incident on her social media sites, she started trending on Twitter and Facebook as the incident came to light. A lot of celebrities came in support of Kim.
Kim and Kanye have visited Paris many times before but this is the first time such an incident has occurred. Condemning the attack and vowing that the perpetrators would soon be traced, hit back Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris.
