Mr. Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been  remanded to eight days police custody.


On the 9th of May, Wednesday, the Islamabad Police produced Mr. Imran Khan before a special court in Islamabad, a day after being arrested on corruption charges. 

Notably, the Islamabad Police arrested Mr. Imran Khan, on the 8th of May, amid allegations that during his tenure as the Prime Minister of Pakistan 2018-2022, Imran Khan sold state gifts in an illegal way.

 During the court proceedings, Imran Khan said that he had been tortured in police custody and wasn’t even allowed to use the washroom.  He also denied the corruption allegations and said, it is a plot of the ruling government in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) the party of Imran Khan, has called for a nationwide protest against the arrest of Mr. Imran Khan.  To control the situation, the army has been called in to maintain law and order in Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
