Mr. Elon Musk, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla and the new owner of Twitter, has now once again started firing employees.

After firing permanent employees from Twitter, Mr. Elon Musk now removed a significant amount of contract employees.  According to sources, the Twitter owner dismissed the contract of approximately 4,400 to 5,500 employees, without any prior notice.  The employees lost access to their official mail and other online services.  Some of these employees did not get any prior warning from the company.  They realised that they were removed when they lost access to the company’s internal communications and even e-mail

This comes weeks after the first wave of layoffs that happened in the first week after Elon Musk took over Twitter. Musk removed around 3,700 employees from Twitter offices across the globe. He reportedly removed 90 per cent of the company’s employees in India.

After the latest round of firings, Twitter has lost more than half of its entire workforce. Firing employees working on content moderation is expected to increase instances of impersonators, scammers, and other cybersecurity threats.

Shortly after Twitter launched the new Blue subscription, a lot of users who paid for the $8 subscription, got the blue checkmark. This created confusion as numerous impersonator accounts started gaining the verified mark. Twitter had to finally roll back the feature.

Elon Musk completed the $44 billion deal to own Twitter in late October. Since then, he has fired half the company’s employees, most of the top-level executives and even the board of directors. Last week some more executives, leading important teams like security, resigned from the company.
