Another drunk driving case has left a five year-old in a critical condition, battling for her life. S.V. Sanjana and her mother S.V Sridevi, were on their way to Sridevi’s mother’s home in a village near Pedda Amberpet . They got down from an auto-rickshaw only to get hit by a car while crossing the road on Sunday night.
Sanjana is critically injured while her mother suffered multiple fractures.
Leaving the vehicle behind, the driver and two other occupants of the car fled the spot after the accident. Disposable glasses and liquor were found by the Police in the car which was supposedly coming from Vijayawada. The liquor has been sent to a forensic lab for investigation.
The incident occurred in Kallangur area on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway around 9 P.M. as stated by the Hayathnagar Police. “There were three people in the car. The accused were coming from Vijayawada. Special teams have been dispatched to hunt them down,” a senior official said. The Santro car (AP 29 N 5799) which is registered in the name of Suneetha Rajulapudi has been taken away by the Police for further investigation.
“We found a water bottle filled with liquor like substance inside the car. There were also eatables and disposable glasses, which indicates they were drinking,” stated SI G. Manmadha Kumar.
“I was starting to cross the road holding my daughter’s hand. We were still by the side of the road when the car hit us,” said Ms. S.V. Sridevi, who is in a hospital with multiple fractures. But the car dragged Sanjana for several meters till it stopped causing serious injuries to her leaving her on a ventilator. The locals called in emergency services to shift the mother and daughter to a hospital, where Sanjana was shifted to another hospital based on her critical condition.
