After the arrest of Mr. Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Islamabad Police arrested Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshi has also been arrested.

Notably, Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, a close aide of Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister, has been arrested for provoking violence in the nation.  After the arrest of Imran Khan, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, the party of Imran Khan, called for a nationwide protest against the arrest of PTI President Imran Khan.

In the chargesheet, the Islamabad Police said they arrested Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday, the 11th of May, for “inciting violent protests” and threatening peace.  The police further blamed Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshi for the worsening political turmoil in the country that has left at least eight people dead.

A video shared by Qureshi’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party on Twitter showed men in civil clothes taking him away, with him waving at party workers before departing from the location where he was detained.

The PTI claimed that 66 year old Mehmood Qureshi was arrested by the Islamabad police in the early hours of Thursday and transferred to an “undisclosed location”.
