K.Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 22nd of February, presented the Vote on Account Budget of Telangana for the financial year 2019.
The Cabinet, on the 21st of February, held a meeting, during which the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) ministers and State Cabinet Ministers drafted the major expenditure for the year.
The State allocated approximately Rs. 25,000 crores to the irrigation sector, whereas Rs. 40,000 crores were assigned for welfare schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi (Rs. 1,450 crores,) Shaadi Mubarak, pension schemes and the welfare schemes for the Scheduled Castes (SCs,) the Scheduled Tribes (STs) and the Backward Classes (BCs.)
The amount allocated for waiving off farmers’ loans is Rs. 6,000 crores. The loans taken till December 2018 and amounting to Rs. 1 lakh will be waived off, whereas the Farmers Insurance Scheme was allocated Rs. 650 crores.
The agriculture sector in the State was assigned an amount of Rs. 20,107 crores. On the other hand, the 12,000 gram panchayats in the State were allocated Rs. 8,000 crores.
The State announced Rs. 5,536 crores for various health schemes and for the improvement of the health infrastructure of the State.
The State Government also assigned a budget of Rs. 1,810 crores for the provision of a monthly stipend to unemployed youth, as promised earlier by the State Government.
The State Government also ensured it will complete Mission Bhagiratha by the end of April 2019. The other development projects discussed during the Budget session were the formation of 68 new Municipalities and the establishment of 119 residential schools for the BCs.
The State granted a total of Rs. 1,82,017 crores for the development of the different departments of the State.
