BJP scored a majority in Tripura and dethroned the Communist Party of India (Marxist) rule. Sadly Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar will not add more years to his 20 year long rule.

Chief Minister Sarkar’s Government in Tripura was considered as the impenetrable fortress. But BJP successfully took over the fortress with their saffron colored flags.

In the capital city, Agartala BJP workers flooded the streets with saffron holi colors to celebrate the party’s victory. BJP leader in Tripura Biplab Kumar Dev is the chosen candidate for the chief minister post.

The BJP put up a remarkable show along with alliance partner Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura.  The party campaigned aggressively in the North Eastern State to ensure a clear victory.

Prime Minister Modi used a word trick to attract voters. He asked the people to vote for HIRA (translates to diamond.) Relating each letter Modi said the people should vote for HIRA – H for highway, I for Internet, R for roadways and A for airways. PM Modi said vote for Hira not for Manik, manik translates to gem while hira a diamond is more valuable.
