On Saturday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh contacted the Chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to check on the Sunjwan Army camp attack.

Jaish e Mohammed militants attacked the Sunjwan Army camp family quarters at around 5 A.M. The militants are now cornered in one of the family quarters at the rear of the camp. The officials reported the operation is still underway. Authorities have cordoned off the area and schools along the Sunjwan belt have been closed temporarily.

Singh spoke to Director General of Police S. P. Vaid about the details about the ongoing shootout. Reports state one army jawan succumbed to his injuries and four others are grievously injured.

The terrorist managed to attack the camp from the rear near Chenni in the outskirts of the city. Intelligence Inputs expected an attack on the army and warned the officials. The 9th of February marks the day Afzal Guru from JeM was hanged in 2013.
