Senior Congress Leader Patangrao Kadam passed away on Friday at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The former minister in Maharashtra was 72 years old. Kadam was admitted to the hospital to treat renal dysfunction.   

Kadam dedicated his life to politics and education. He founded the Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University among many more institutes. The leader was a staunch Congressman for many years. Kadam held the Forest Ministry in Maharashtra during the Congress rule.   

Earlier this week, former Congress leader Sonia Gandhi visited Kadam at the hospital. Congress senior leader Prithviraj Chavan and State Unit President Ashok Chavan also visited the ill politician.
