The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 7th of April, released the list of candidates contesting the Odisha Assembly elections.

Rahul Gandhi, the President of the INC, announced the list of nine Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) whereas two MLA candidates contesting the Assembly elections in Odisha were replaced.

The Party nominated Debi Prasad Mallick as the MLA candidate from the Tirtol constituency and Kisan from the Dharmasala constituency in Odisha.

The candidates nominated for the Odisha Assembly elections are Niranjan Patnaik, the President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC,) from the Bhandaripokhari and Ghasipura constituencies, Nalinikanta Mohanty (Bhadrak) and Sitakanta Mohapatra (Barachana.)

The list also includes Rabindranath Kar from the Salipur constituency, Bibhranshu Sekhar Lenka (Mahakalapada,) Lalatendu Mohapatra (Balikunda-Ersama) and Satyabrata Patra (Nimapara.)

Odisha is contesting a total of 147 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections, which are divided into 4 phases. The Odisha Assembly elections are scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April and the 29th of April.

The major parties contesting the Odisha Assembly elections are the Biju Janata Dal (BJD,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INC.

The results of the Odisha Assembly elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
