Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were gunned down in an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. On Thursday, the terrorists attacked the security forces who retaliated.

Security forces reported an INSAS rifle was recovered from the terrorists. The rifle was snatched earlier this week from a policeman in Kupwara.

A police spokesman said a check point was established this afternoon at Khumriyal in the Lolab area. The security forces were conducting a search when the terrorists began firing resulting in an encounter.

The encounter was quick with both the militants killed by the security forces. The militants were identified as Zahoor Ahmad and Bilal Ahmad Shah from Shatmuqam village.

Talking about the terrorists the spokesperson stated, “They were affiliated to the proscribed terror outfit HM. Both the terrorists were involved in several attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities in the area.”

The were no casualties on the side of civilians or security force officials. The police filed a case and an investigation team was set up.
