Karti Chidambaram, a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and the son of P. Chidambaram, the former Finance Minister, on the 7th of May, gets permission to travel abroad.

The Supreme Court (SC) allowed Karti Chidambaram to travel to Brazil, Spain and the United States this month.

A Bench of judges, including the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjiv Khanna reviewed his case and permitted him to go.

The SC also asked Karti to file an undertaking according to which he will return and cooperate with the investigation.

Karti Chidambaram and his father P. Chidambaram are facing charges of money laundering Rs. 305 crores, related to a foreign media company, INX Media.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are investigating the case since 2015.
