Delhi: Election Commission of India (ECI) served notices to Telangana IT minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) key leader K Taraka Ramarao (KTR) on Saturday for violating the model code of conduct.

KTR recently conducted an interaction meet with unemployed youth at T-works and assured a few promises. The meeting became controversial and Congress MP Randeep Surjewala complained to ECI over KTR for conducting political meetings at T-Works which is owned by the government. “KTR conducted a meeting with unemployed youth at T-works. He promised to create employment opportunities for youth if BRS comes into power again. He also promised youth to restructure the TS Public Service Commission. KTR used government office premises for his election campaign,” Surjewala mentioned in his complaint.

ECI after examining the complaint preliminarily opined that KTR violated the election code. The ECI served notices to KTR and asked for his explanation by 3 pm on Sunday November 26, 2023.
