In Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, 7 naxals including 3 women were gunned down on Thursday in a fierce encounter. The security forces received a tip off about the presence of naxals in the insurgency hit area.

The operation began at 6 A.M., at the forest near Timinar and Pusnar villages which is along the border of Bijapur. The State’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Sundarraj P. reported the details of the encounter.

Security forces launched the operation from the Dantewada District in the forest. The DIG explained, “After guns fell silent, bodies of seven Naxals, including three women, were recovered from the spot.”

The forces also recovered two Insas rifles, two point 303 rifles, one 12 bore gun and muzzle loading guns.
