The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 22nd of March, announced the list of candidates contesting the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 5 candidates for the Lok Sabha seats and 22 candidates for the Assembly seats in the State.

The BJP fielded Basant Kumar Panda, the President of the BJP in Odisha, as the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate from the Kalahandi constituency.

The four other leaders contesting as MPs are Suresh Pujari from the Bargarh constituency, Nitesh Ganga Deb from the Sambalpur constituency and Jayaram Pangi from the Koraput (ST) constituency.

The BJP also nominated 22 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) for representing the Party in the Odisha Assembly elections.

Recently, the BJP announced 10 MP candidates and 99 MLAs for the Odisha Lok Sabha and Assembly elections respectively.

Odisha will contest a total of 21 Lok Sabha seats and 147 Assembly seats in the upcoming Odisha elections. The elections are divided into four phases, which are scheduled on the 11th, 18th, 23rd and 29th of April 2019.

The results of the Lok Sabha elections and Assembly elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
