At least 100 killed in Nigeria tanker fire

Abuja: Over 100 people were killed and several others were wounded in the Nigeria tanker fire. The incident occurred when a gas tanker truck ignited a massive fire at the industrial gas plant. At least 100 were killed when people lined up to refill their cooking gas cylinders. The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital.

The fire mishap occurred in Nnewi, which is predominantly a Christian community in the southeast Nigeria. As soon as the firefighters received the information, they were rushed to the site to douse the flames. By the time, they reached the spot the fire claimed several lives. The investigation is underway and more details are still awaited.
