A blast was reported, on the 24th of May, at a mosque in Kachurtal area of Hailakandi district, Assam.

According to sources, the blast took place around 2:00 A.M., on the 24th of May, which damaged some parts of a mosque in Kartal.

Kachurtal is a place in Hailakandi which shares an inter state boundary with Mizoram. Mizoram and Assam have a long standing dispute regarding this inter state boundary.

Previously also, many such incidents occurred in the region of Hailakandi in Assam and Kolashib in Mizoram.

Although the reason behind the blast is yet to be confirmed, the Police of Assam suspect it to be the miscreants of Mizoram.

According to the reports, these miscreants of Mizoram are threatening the residents of Hailakandi and asking them to leave the area or face consequences.

In January 2019 also such a report came to light, after Adil Khan, the District Magistrate (DM) of Hailakandi reported the matter to the DM of Kolashib, Mizoram. Adil Khan also asked his counterpart to take precautionary measure for the same.

Mohneesh Mishra, the Superintendent of Police of Hailakandi district said no casualties were reported in Kachurtal.
