Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 31st of May, transferred R.P. Thakur, the Director General of Police (DGP) of AP.

R.P. Thakur was given a new responsibility as the Commissioner of Printing, Stationery and Store Purchases.

Gautam Sawang, the former DG of Vijayawada Police, replaced R.P. Thakur as the new DGP of Andhra Pradesh.

The decision came after Jagan Mohan Reddy’s meeting with the Indian Public Service (IPS) officers and L.V. Subrahmanyam, the Chief Secretary of AP, on the 30th of May.

Mr. Subrahmanyam issued an official notice during late hours of the 30th of May and ordered the transfer.

On the 31st of May, Gautam visited Jagan Mohan Reddy at his residence in Hyderabad and discussed various issues.

Apart from R.P. Thakur, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) transferred many Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers and appointed new officers.

Four senior IAS officers, Satish Chandra, M. Girija Shanker, G. Sai Prasad and A.V. Rajamouli, who were appointed by N. Chandrababu Naidu, the former CM of AP, were also transferred.
