Uttarakhand: At least 30 people were killed after a cloudburst in Chamoli and Pittoragarh district of Uttarakhand on Friday. Flooding has also being reported in many area of the state after the Alaknanda river above the danger level mark after receiving rainfall upto 54 mm in the last 24 hours.
Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, said, “NDRF teams rushed to the areas affected by could burst in Uttarakhand. Additional teams of NDRF are also put on alert.”

Meanwhile people are being moved out of low-lying areas even as Chief Minister Harish Rawat announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees for the kin of the deceased. Santosh Badoni, deputy director, state disaster management centre said that it was getting difficult for the rescue team to communicate with the authorities in Pittoragarh.
“We are getting information that people have gone missing after the cloudburst,” Badoni added.
