Released on the 25th of January, Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathan, set a record of the highest advance booking in the history of Bollywood film release.

According to sources, the Yash Raj Film project got an enthusiastic response from audiences with over one million advance bookings. 

Mr. Ashish Saksena, the COO of BookMyShow, said, “The response across India has been phenomenal with cinephiles choosing a cinematic experience as they opt for varied formats including 2D, IMAX and 4DX across cities.”  He added, “It is one of the best advances that we have had at INOX at our 722 screens across India. We have sold more than 1.5 lac tickets for Wednesday and more than 3.5 lac tickets till Sunday.”

In addition, this is the first time that a Bollywood movie is attracting audiences from South Indian cities like Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.  It is to be noted, approximately 30% of overall advance bookings are from the aforementioned cities.

The Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Pathan movie is likely to make a box office opening of Rs. 40 to Rs. 45 crores on day one.  As per the rising number of advance bookings and fan base of Shah Rukh Khan, the film Pathan, directed by Siddharth Anand is expected to break the record of KGF: Chapter 2.
