A ruckus broke out in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, after Bollywood celebrities Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were stopped from having darshan of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga.

On the evening of the 6th of September, Tuesday, a strong protest was registered by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists.  Notably, the cadres and workers of the organisation were angry over the recent remark of actor Ranbir Kapoor about beef.   The protestors gathered  outside the temple, after receiving information about the star cast of Brahmastra, arriving at the Mahakaleshwar temple to seek blessing for the success of the movie.   The protestors started gathering around the VIP entrance gate, but the police did not notice it.  The protesters led by VHP leader Ashok Jain Chaywala and Bajrang Dal leader Ankit Choubey showed black flags and raised slogans.

The Bollywood artists along with the production team of Brahmastra film came here to pray for the success of the film. Amid verbal duel and assault between policemen and activists, chaos prevailed around the Mahakaleshwar Temple for more than two hours.

In addition, the police have registered a case against the workers of Hindu organisations under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)  This action was taken in relation to the fight between the CSP and the station in charge and workers in the presence of concerned police officials.

Meanwhile, due to the ruckus outside the temple, celebrity couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt could not reach the temple and had to leave for Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
